80th National Folk Festival Commemorative Acadian Accordion Auction

80th National Folk Festival Commemorative Acadian Accordion Auction

This Acadian accordion was custom built by Marc Savoy and his son Joel in support of the 80th National Folk Festival. Sixty-five years of playing the Cajun accordion, together with fifty-eight years of building these instruments, is the reason for the special sound and feel of this beautiful Acadian accordion.

Built in the summer of 2021, this instrument has already been in the spotlight, having been played by Marc and the Savoy Family Cajun Band during the 80th National Folk Festival.  Check out this playlist on NCTA Youtube’s channel and see the 80th National Folk Festival Commemorative Acadian Accordion played by the Savoys and friends during this event, and also behind the scenes during its construction at the shop in Eunice, Louisiana.

Additionally, it is featured prominently in the upcoming publication– Made in Louisiana: The Story of the Acadian Accordion, University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press.

The winner of this silent auction will own an important item of Cajun culture, with lasting prominence and importance for years to come.

Funds benefit the National Council for the Traditional Arts.  Visit the Silent Auction to place your bid! Bidding ends on December 15 at Noon EST.
