The National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA) The NCTA is the nation’s oldest multicultural arts presenting organization. For over eight decades, through festivals, tours, symposia, exhibits, and media productions, the NCTA has showcased the very best of the myriad grassroots folk, tribal and ethnic cultures that comprise our diverse nation.
Taking place in our nation’s capital, the NEA National Heritage Fellowship awards ceremony and concert honors extraordinary practitioners of the folk and traditional arts in the United States. The medal combines craft traditions of two 1982 Fellows, the first year of the event, into one stunning commemorative piece.
The awards ceremony took on Wednesday, September 28 at the Library of Congress, and the concert took place on Friday, September 30 at the Lisner Auditorium, George Washington University. You can watch the archived webcast here.
